Councillor Lydia Riopka
Hello, I would just like to take the time to introduce myself for those who do not know me and give some history for those that do. My name is Lydia Riopka and 11 years ago my husband Jason and our oldest daughter Brooke, now 15, found the perfect house and moved to this great town. Being raised in a small community it didn’t take me long to fall in love with the people and the atmosphere that exist here.
Since moving here we have been blessed with two more daughters, Rylee age 7 and Sydnee age 5.
Within this time I have completed a Human Justice Degree at the University of Regina while getting the opportunity to work in Victim Services as well as Parole. I also help manage our family grain and bison farm.
One of my personal values is volunteering within the community. Some of my past and present volunteer experience include: the Pilot Butte Community Council, Pilot Butte School Community Council, the Hot Lunch program, preschool volunteer helper as well as I have spent numerous hours trying to make our community better through collaboration with the town on pre-existing street, park and drainage issues.
From our weekly visits to the library for story-time, my love of our local photography club and being part of town groups and events it makes me proud to call this place my home.
