Snow Removal
Snow and Ice Control is completed by the Public Works department following the end of a typical snow event. The Town of Pilot Butte follows a Priority Snow Removal Map in order to plan and prioritize snow removal throughout the Town. Main transportation and emergency vehicle access routes are Priority, shown in purple on the map, as well as School Clearing areas as shown in green. Residential roads are secondary priority. Priorities are subject to change based on circumstances and will be determined by Management.

Sanding/Ice Control
After the grader has completed the snow removal, the roads are sanded with a salt/sand mixture on priority basis following the Priority Snow Removal Map. Note: The salt loses it’s effectiveness once the temperature drops below about -10°C.
A salt/sand mixture available for our residents at the Maintenance Shop on Railway Avenue! Remember to bring your own pail and shovel to obtain this.
Additional Information from the Snow & Ice Control Policy 03-2017:
- Snow and Ice priorities are subject to change based on the circumstances surrounding a particular snowfall at management’s discretion.
- Snow and ice place on municipal streets, sidewalks, pathways or Municipal facilities by individuals or companies is not permitted.
- Snow and Ice Control Operations for residential driveways will allow for a maximum of 24 foot section to be cleared by the Town through the Public Works and Maintenance Department to provide access to a driveway

Tips from the Town:
- Please be cautious and courteous when driving near the grader/snow removal equipment. We ask that you refrain from passing the equipment to keep everyone on the road safe!
- Add driveway markers to your property. This helps our operators effectively navigate the grader and know where the grass and property lines are.
- Please move portable basketball nets away from the street/boulevard.
- Register for VoyentAlert! The Town uses the VoyentAlert notification system to keep residents informed on day-to-day notices, general information and critical information, including snow removal notifications.
