My husband Mel and I have lived in Pilot Butte for the past 19 years and chose this community to raise our two daughters, Tianna and Natalia. As a family, volunteerism and getting involved in our community has been deeply etched in our day to day lives. Mel has been a volunteer firefighter for the past 17 years, our daughters have volunteered at community association and town events, and I have contributed as chair, vice chair and member at large with the community association and currently, the Mayor of Pilot Butte.
I have 29 years of experience developing and working with policy and bylaw, program development and delivery, and board governance. For over 24 years, I worked for the City of Regina in community and social development departments. I have 5 years of experience working within the health sector and I am currently employed with the Saskatchewan Health Authority as a manager in Primary Health Care. I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina and have recently returned to obtain a Masters in Social Work.
I believe in working with people “where they are at” and collaborating with community not only to identify the issues and problems but to come up with viable, practical and affordable solutions. I am dedicated to working with residents, administration and Council to provide the necessary leadership toward the goal of making Pilot Butte a community that thrives and grows well into the future!
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. I can be reached by email at mayor.chorney@pilotbutte.ca.
Please do not hesitate to get involved in our community, no matter how big or small. It is truly a rewarding and humbling opportunity to work together toward a stronger, more cohesive and thriving community.
