The Town of Pilot Butte uses Rozul RTU, which is a field rodent wheat bait for dealing with gophers. The rodent bait needs to be used by a certified Pest Control Operator, which the Town has. Rodent control measures have been used within the Town owned land for more than 20 years.
The recommended timeframe is to use in early Spring. The operator puts the bait deep in the gopher holes with a funnel and then packs the hole with dirt. Rozul RTU is used as it deals with the rodents and would require a large quantity to be consumed by a pet if accidently consumed (1 ½ cups). This is the main reason this is used and recommended by the Pest Control Operator.
The bait found outside the hole must have been dug up by a dog or possibly kicked out by a gopher.
Since the recent inquiries the Town has arranged to have Public Works place signs up to communicate and identify areas to the public.
