Phase 1: Background & Research
In November 2023 The Multipurpose Recreation Facility project started with securing Impact Group Consulting to conduct a Recreational Needs Assessment in the community. In December 2023 community engagement began for residents, stakeholders and user groups to provide their input on the needs and priorities for Pilot Butte’s recreation. Phase 2: Establishment of the Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee
In February 2025, a Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee was created. This is an advisory committee of the Town of Pilot Butte Council with a mandate to provide guidance and recommendations on the planning and development of a new multi-recreational facility. The Committee will ensure that the facility meets community needs, aligns with best practices, and is delivered efficiently within budget and timeline constraints.

The Town had hired professionals to maintain the town trees in Summer 2023 and continued in October 2023, as some trees could only be done at those times.
5 Memorial benches have been placed in parks through out the Town, to serve as a memorial marker, as well as to beautify & add seating to our parks for all to use and enjoy. Completed in November 2023.
The re-paving of the entrance Aberdeen Place road was completed in October 2023.
A dedicated Skate Park has been completed, with a new location behind Ball Diamond 3 across from the Soccer Pitch. More future improvements to come!
The Completion of the pad and structure occurred in Summer of 2020 with Fundraising Initiatives by our Spray Park Committee Of Council, Sask In Motion challenge Winner and Support from the Town.
A washroom/change room facility was purchased from a Regina company for the spray park! This will add a convenience to the spray park. This project started in September 2023 and continued in spring when weather allowed for further progress.
The facility was placed in February 2024. In Spring 2024 the concrete sidewalk was poured, in preparation of the deck with stairs & an accessible ramp. A water station was added with a drinking fountain, water bottle filler & pet fountain! Final touches including landscaping was then added, to complete the project and be ready for full use in Summer 2024!
The Town has identified that we would require a multi-functional approach to improve safety and reduce speed along main arteries in and out of town. The support and funding by the Government of Saskatchewan help our community achieve our goal objectives and provide safe roadways for our children and residents.
In 2021, we began our Walk A Butte project.
Phase I – Installation of Solar Pedestrian Cross Walk and Pathway along 1 St Avenue – Completed – Summer 2021
Phase II – Installation of Speed Radar Signs on Butte Street and 1st Avenue – Completed – Fall 2021
Phase III – Installation of Speed Radar 5th Avenue and Pedestrian Crosswalk at Hudson and 5th Avenue – Completed Spring 2023
The Butte South grid road project was completed August 2023. Hydroseeding will follow.
The Plains Road & Plains Way park was seeded in July 2023.
The Arbor St & Aaron Dr Park located in the Willow Ridge area underwent construction in Summer 2023 to improve and revitalize the park. This project included adding irrigation, top soil and seeding.
The Town now uses the VoyentAlert system to provide communication and information with our residents. This services allows the Town to share important information, community events, reminders, critical information and more.
The #4 baseball diamond has new bleachers! Thank you to Alair Homes for working with the Town and building these new bleachers and Gang-Nail Trusses for donating the lumber for this project! Completed in August 2023.
Numerous lights in Discovery Ridge will be replaced with new LED lights.

We have been working on updating & improving our Community Directory for current and new residents. The vision and focus is to provide some basic helpful information about Pilot Butte, some features and businesses/contacts, which can be helpful for existing residents, new residents as well as those that may be considering making Pilot Butte home to learn more about the town. If you have a local business you’d like to have featured in the Business Directory please let us know!
An all season portable toilet was brought to the corner of the Soccer Pitch on Butte Street mid December 2023 as a pilot project throughout the winter! We’ll be welcoming feedback from our residents to determine if this is something worthwhile to have available for future winters as well.
This project has started in November 2023 and completed in 2024.
New basketball nets were ordered and installed at the Outdoor Rink in 2024. This location allows for a multi-use activity space; set up for basketball during the warmer seasons with hockey nets available for floor hockey users as well, and the rink ready for ice when the colder seasons hit!
Pedestrian safety features were added to the stop signs at the 5th Avenue & 5th Street, as well as Butte Street & 3rd Avenue intersections in May 2024! By pressing the button on one stop sign post, the lights will illuminate and blink on each stop sign at that intersection, so vehicles from all directions will be aware pedestrians are crossing.
Landscape improvements were made to the park located between Hudson Drive and Mackenzie Crescent in June 2024. This included improvements to the path way and greenspace.
Road repairs on 5th Avenue & 5th Street
Road repairs were completed in September 2024 on a section of 5th Avenue and on 5th Street.
A swing set and memorial bench were added to Aspen Park in fall 2024. Additional landscape improvements to be completed around the swing set.
The rink heaters had maintenance completed, and 2 of the heaters replaced with new ones to improve the heating and comfort for rink visitors in December 2024! There are also timer dials beside the entrances to the stands that visitors can use to turn the heaters on/increase the time.

The Mayor of Pilot Butte, Peggy Chorney, invites our residents to schedule a one-on-one meeting with her to discuss concerns, questions or just share to ideas and opinions! She will be in the Town Office and available for appointments once a month from January-June 2025.
