Committtes & Boards of Council
There are two types of governance groups that the Town currently uses: Advisory Committees and Committees of Council.
Committees of Council
Committees of Council provide discuss policies, review issues, provide advice and present recommendations to Council for review and so Council can make informed decisions. Typically, committees of Council are formed to provide recommendations to Council regarding specific areas or issues of governance.
Advisory Committees
Advisory committees provide recommendations to Council on a particular matter so that Council can make an informed decision on said matter.
Typically, advisory committees are formed to provide recommendations to Council regarding a particular project that has a significant financial component to it (e.g., skate park, splash pad, multi-use courts, dog parks etc.).
Pilot Butte Beautification Committee
The role of the Beautification Committee: To work on beautification projects that are visually appealing in the Pilot Butte community. To enhance and beautify green space areas in the town of Pilot Butte. To be of assistance to those residents requesting it for property clean up. To promote community pride through town beautification projects.
Beautification committee responsibilities:
• Evaluate areas in need of attention
• Prioritize and develop these areas
• Develop a process and plan of beautification
• Explore and determine the potential for future garden and landscaping areas in town
• Communicate ideas to the Parks, Recreation, Arts & Culture Advisory Committee (PRAC) and then to Pilot Butte Council Projects may range from planting flowers or shrubs to developing gardening plots, to painting planters, benches, sign posts, or whatever is beginning to look a bit tired.
Parks, Recreation, Arts, & Culture (PRAC)
The Parks, Recreation, Arts and Culture Advisory Committee is established to support and facilitate the achievement of the Town of Pilot Butte’s vision, goals AND to advise Council on matters relevant to the Town’s sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation Activities.
The Committee’s key objectives are:
• Provide input in the development of plans and policies under the responsibility of the Town of Pilot Butte’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department.
• Raise the profile of parks, recreation and culture through positive support and promotion in the community.
• Encourage and support volunteerism and volunteer organizations within the Town.
• Identify concerns and present constructive solutions for the Town of Pilot Butte’s programs, facilities, open spaces, trails and events.
• Undertake other assignment as may be requested by Council or Administration, as it relates to parks, recreation, and culture.
Pilot Butte Business and Economic Development Committee
The Community Economic Development Committee (CEDC) is an advisory committee of Council with a mandate to provide guidance in economic initiatives within the Town of Pilot Butte.
The Committee’s key objectives are:
• Provide input on business retention, attraction and expansion opportunities in the Town of Pilot Butte.
• Provide advice and recommendations to the Pilot Butte Town Council respecting economic development.
• Act as a champion for the Town of Pilot Butte as an attractive environment for existing and prospective businesses.
• Provide advice and recommendations to work with local committees on promoting the town and fundraising with future community events or projects.
• Provide advice and recommendations for consideration to work with local committees to promote the town and fundraise for future community events or projects.
Multi-Recreation Facility Development Committee (MRFDC)
The Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee (the "Committee") is an advisory committee of the Town of Pilot Butte Council with a mandate to provide guidance and recommendations on the planning and development of a new multi-recreational facility. The Committee will ensure that the facility meets community needs, aligns with best practices, and is delivered efficiently within budget and timeline constraints.
The Committee’s key objectives are:
• To assess community needs and incorporate stakeholder input into the facility’s design while balancing fiscal responsibility.
• To provide recommendations on funding strategies and budget management.
• To ensure that the facility includes multi-use spaces that cater to diverse recreational activities.
• To liaise with relevant authorities, experts, community representatives, and other communities that have or are undergoing similar projects.
• To monitor project progress and address challenges as they arise.
• With a goal to develop a conceptual design and framework within 12 to 18 months.

Pilot Butte Dog Park Advisory Committee (PBDPAC)
The Town of Pilot Butte Dog Park Advisory Committee is established to make recommendations to Town Council concerning park site selection; site work required; capital budget and operational budget requirements and the policies and procedures of the off leash dog park.
The role of this Committee is to investigate, consider and provide recommendations to Council regarding various aspects of a new dog park in Pilot Butte, including:
• Community involvement and input
• Promote the proper use of the off-leash dog park by communicating the rules of conduct to dog owners using the park
• Fundraising and grant opportunities
• Capital costs
• Dog park location
• Determine priorities based on need and funding availability
Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC)
The Traffic Advisory Committee is established to provide recommendations to the Council of the Town of Pilot Butte with regards to community and roadways safety within the Town of Pilot Butte. The TAC also provides a community perspective on several safety issues and promotes public awareness and education for road safety initiatives and programs to mitigate safety risks and hazards and to enhance community participation and cooperation.
The TAC will review and discuss matters related to the roadways, parking, speed zones, sidewalks, pedestrian paths, crosswalks, and related policies and bylaws. The TAC will consult and promote partnerships with other committees, agencies, governments, and community organizations to analyze other recommendations and obtain necessary information and insights.
The Committee’s key objectives are:
• Identify challenges and opportunities in Town of Pilot Butte while advocating for the safety of the community.• Provide information and recommendations to Council regarding traffic safety resources and programs.
• To review concerns and requests raised by the public with regards to traffic, parking, speed zone, and safety.
• Investigate and provide evidence-based recommendations for systematic traffic safety concerns (e.g. evaluating strategies to reduce the frequency of collisions at a collision-prone intersection).
• Liaise with other groups and organizations when needed (e.g. responding to community organizations focused on traffic safety).
• Recommend programs and projects that promote road and pedestrian safety.
