Multipurpose Recreation Facility
Pilot Butte has experienced significant growth and population increase over the years. More individuals and families have moved to Town, families have grown, and needs have changed, which in turn the need and use of facilities to support health, wellness and recreational activities has increased. The current Recreation Center is operating at capacity and a new Multipurpose Recreation Facility that can support our growing population to provide new/additional recreation opportunities is being strategically planned!
Current Project Steps & Milestones
Phase 1: Background & Research
In November 2023 The Multipurpose Recreation Facility project started with securing Impact Group Consulting to conduct a Recreational Needs Assessment in the community. In December 2023 community engagement began for residents, stakeholders and user groups to provide their input on the needs and priorities for Pilot Butte’s recreation. This community engagement consultation included:
- Public Survey
- Stakeholder Focus Groups
- Community Group Questionnaires
- Public Open Houses
- Indigenous Engagement
In April 2024 a report was completed summarizing the community input and survey results and posted on the Town website for resident viewing. Visit the Recreation Needs Assessment page to view this report.
Phase 2: Establishment of the Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee
In February 2025, a Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee was created. This is an advisory committee of the Town of Pilot Butte Council with a mandate to provide guidance and recommendations on the planning and development of a new multi-recreational facility. The Committee will ensure that the facility meets community needs, aligns with best practices, and is delivered efficiently within budget and timeline constraints.
Visit the Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee page to learn more about this committee.
Please note: this project is in initial research and planning phase. More information will be provided as the project progresses.
