Bylaws and Policies

The Town of Pilot Butte establishes policies, procedures, and bylaws to guide municipal operations, support good governance, and help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming community.

Bylaws are local laws adopted by Town Council that establish rules and regulations within the municipality. Bylaws are legally enforceable and address matters such as traffic, parking, animal control, property maintenance, and public safety, as well as establish the principles and expectations that guide Town staff, Council, and committees in carrying out their responsibilities.

Policies are guidelines established by Town Council to provide direction for municipal decisions, procedures, and operations. Policies help ensure consistency, fairness, and transparency in how Town services and responsibilities are managed. Policies generally answer the questions "Why?" and "What?" by outlining the purpose and objectives behind municipal decisions and actions.
