Multipurpose Recreation Facility
Phase 1: Background & Research
In November 2023 The Multipurpose Recreation Facility project started with securing Impact Group Consulting to conduct a Recreational Needs Assessment in the community. In December 2023 community engagement began for residents, stakeholders and user groups to provide their input on the needs and priorities for Pilot Butte’s recreation. This community engagement consultation included:
- Public Survey
- Stakeholder Focus Groups
- Community Group Questionnaires
- Public Open Houses
- Indigenous Engagement
In April 2024 a report was completed summarizing the community input and survey results and posted on the Town website for resident viewing. Visit the Recreation Needs Assessment page to view this report.
Phase 2: Establishment of the Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee
In February 2025, a Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee was created. This is an advisory committee of the Town of Pilot Butte Council with a mandate to provide guidance and recommendations on the planning and development of a new multi-recreational facility. The Committee will ensure that the facility meets community needs, aligns with best practices, and is delivered efficiently within budget and timeline constraints.
Visit the Multi-Recreational Facility Development Committee page to learn more about this committee.
Visit the Multipurpose Recreation Facility page to view more information and updates on the project as it progresses.

Completed Projects
Tree Maintenance
The Town had hired professionals to maintain the town trees in Summer 2023 and continued in October 2023, as some trees could only be done at those times.
Water Membranes
- Membrane Replacement
- Over the last few years the number of complaints about discoloured water were numerous. To determine what was causing this problem the water plant and its operations were assessed by 2 consultants.
- The assessments concluded that too much iron and manganese were making it through the RO membranes. When new the brand and style of membrane we were using would remove the iron and manganese to just below the threshold where there is a visible presence. Age and membrane cleanings quickly put the iron and manganese rejection over this threshold. A Pilot Project was proposed to test iron and manganese pretreatment and post treatment options and to test other brands and styles of RO membranes.
- The Pilot Project found that a pretreatment greensand filter would be the most cost effective and operator friendly treatment option and that the high rejection rate RO membranes of most brands would work. The Town was not successful in securing Provincial and Federal grant assistance to install the pretreatment greensand filters so we are going to replace all of our membranes with one of the membrane brands from the Pilot Project.
- For comparison our original membranes are membranes with good rejection rate at an economical cost and are used at many water treatment plants. When new they achieved 97% rejection of mineral at 80% efficiency and a production rate of 16L/s. The new membranes have a high rejection rate used for special circumstances where high mineral rejection is required. They are expected to have a 99% rejection rate at 85% efficiency and a production rate of 16L/s.
Completed in 2023.
Memorial Benches
5 Memorial benches have been placed in parks through out the Town, to serve as a memorial marker, as well as to beautify & add seating to our parks for all to use and enjoy. Completed in November 2023.

The Spray Park Washrooms/Change Facility
A washroom/change room facility was purchased from a Regina company for the spray park! This will add a convenience to the spray park. This project started in September 2023 and continued in spring when weather allowed for further progress.
The facility was placed in February 2024. In Spring 2024 the concrete sidewalk was poured, in preparation of the deck with stairs & an accessible ramp. A water station was added with a drinking fountain, water bottle filler & pet fountain! Final touches including landscaping was then added, to complete the project and be ready for full use in Summer 2024!
Walk A Butte
The Town has identified that we would require a multi-functional approach to improve safety and reduce speed along main arteries in and out of town. The support and funding by the Government of Saskatchewan help our community achieve our goal objectives and provide safe roadways for our children and residents.
